Who is the most famous neurosurgeon?
If brain surgeons abroad are talking about you as well as domestically, then you are the most famous brain surgeon. Recently, the importance of the concept of “citation” has been recognized among Turkish scientists. It’s not enough if you do some research, surgery or discoveries and publish them in international journals. Another researcher’s mention of your findings in his/her own paper is considered a citation. The ratio of the number of citations you have received to the number of your own papers is called the “H factor”. To say that a surgeon is a reputable name in the international area, or among the most famous brain surgeons; this H factor must be well above 10. I am at ease now that I have reached this level long ago.
You may have even written some books. However, there is another issue called “citation in the textbook”, which is the most important. If your works and findings are mentioned in international textbooks, it is much more valuable. Lucky me, I had felt this happiness when I was an assistant doctor. More than 30 years ago, the results of my research had begun to be mentioned in international textbooks. Now that number has reached 40 books.
